Adell C. Nicks was the second born to John and Lillie(Johnson) Nicks born on August 10, 194 in Gatesville, Mississippi. Adell was the second of seven chikdren, four preceded him in death.

Adell attended Egypt High School in Gatesville, Mississippi where he excelled academically as well as in football. After high school he attended Alcorn College in Lorman, Mississippi, where he also excelled in football playing the position of center weighing only 175 pounds. Adell served in the United States Army obtaining the rank of Corporal.

Adell moved to Chicago and became employed as a U.S. Postal employee until he retired and became an independent businessman. On July 2, 1955 he married Savana Simmons, his wife of 46 years, who preceded him in death on April 8, 2001. Adell Nicks joined Fidelity Lodge #103 F.&.A.M, where he served as Master of the Lodge in 1968 and also served as the lodge recording secretary until his death. PM Nicks was called home on June 20, 2007.
