Past Master Robert L. Green

Robert Louis Green was born on March 22, 1926 in Ellisville, Arkansas to the union of Jack and Gertrude Green. He was the youngest of five children. Shortly after birth his biologucal mother died. Bob relocated to Omaha, Nebraska with his step mother at a young age.

Bob came to Chicago at an early age of seventeen to seek employment. In 1947 he began working for Corn Products Corp. While employed there, he met and fell in love with Lulamae Mallory. They were married August 6, 1955. During his 35 years at CPC, he became the first black swithcman, conductor, and engineer for the railroad department. He retired from CPC in 1982. Robert was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he served as a deacon til his death.

He was involved in several community organizations, auxiliaries, and fraternal orders. He was a pastmaster of Fidelity Lodge#103, past president of the Chicago Chatham Lion's Club, on the board of directors for the Digby Armor Car Services, the precinct captain for the 85th Michigan and Wabash block, member of the Chatham/Avalon Community Council, and the sergeant at arms for the Seniors of the Six District Police Department. Robert "Uncle Po Bob" Green went to glory on December 31, 2009.
